1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Rebellious Aging, referred to here as "we," "us," or "our," collects, uses, and shares information through rebelliousaging.org, our forms and communications, and our chapters and activities.

This policy does not cover Athena Clinic, Lulu, or any other third-party service we link to. Those organizations have their own privacy practices. Athena Clinic is a medical practice, and information you give Athena Clinic is handled under its own privacy notices, not this policy.

2. The self-assessment

The self-assessment runs entirely in your web browser. Your answers and your results are not sent to us, stored by us, or shared with Athena Clinic, our analytics providers, or anyone else. Although Athena Clinic sponsors the self-assessment, Athena Clinic does not receive your answers or results through this website.

We may record that the self-assessment pages were visited, in the same way we record visits to other pages, but we do not record the answers you enter or the result you receive. Your answers are cleared when you close or reload the page. If you print or save your results, that copy is yours to keep. If you later choose to share your results with a chapter, a physician, or Athena Clinic, that information is handled by whoever you give it to.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you book a first visit, join a waitlist, apply to start a chapter, contact a chapter, or send us an inquiry, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, the chapter or session you are interested in, and anything you choose to include in a message.

Information collected at activities. When you attend a session, a chapter may collect sign-in details, signed participation agreements, and emergency contact information. Sessions may also be photographed or recorded.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the website, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, and the site that referred you.

Payment information. If we collect dues or sell products directly, payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number.

4. Health information

We do not ask you to provide health information through this website. Some people choose to tell us about an injury, condition, or limitation, for example in a message field, so that a session can be adapted for them. If you do, we use that information only to arrange your participation, share it only with the chapter lead or session leader who needs it, and do not use it for marketing. Please do not send detailed medical information or medical records through the website or by email.

5. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and arrange your first visit
  • Connect you with the right chapter and keep you informed about sessions you asked about
  • Run chapters and activities, including safety and emergency arrangements
  • Review chapter applications
  • Send updates or newsletters you have signed up for
  • Understand how the website is used and improve it
  • Protect the security of the website and prevent misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

6. How we share information

We share information only as described here:

  • With chapter leads and volunteers, who receive the details you submit about their chapter so they can respond to you and arrange your visit. They may use only that information for Rebellious Aging purposes
  • With service providers that help us operate the website and our communications, such as hosting, form handling, email, text messaging, and analytics providers, who may use the information only to provide services to us
  • With Athena Clinic, only if you ask us to share your information with them
  • When required by law, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person
  • In connection with a reorganization, merger, or transfer of Rebellious Aging, subject to this policy
  • With your consent

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

7. Cookies and analytics

The website may use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work, and analytics tools that tell us how the site is used in aggregate, such as which pages are visited. No third-party analytics tools are currently configured. We do not use analytics tools to capture what you type into the self-assessment. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Where required by law, we honor browser signals such as Global Privacy Control.

8. Emails and text messages

You can unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any message. You can stop text messages by replying STOP. We may still contact you about a request you have made, such as a visit you booked.

9. Photographs and recordings

Photographs and recordings from sessions may be published on the website, in podcasts, and in other Rebellious Aging materials. If you do not want to appear, tell the session leader before the session begins. If you appear in published material and would like it removed, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to do so.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including to respond to you, run chapters and activities, and meet legal, insurance, and record-keeping obligations. Signed participation agreements may be kept for longer periods where needed for legal or insurance reasons. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the information we hold. No website, email, or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us.

12. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, such as the right to know how your information is used or to appeal a decision about your request. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and will not treat you differently for making one.

13. Children

This website and our activities are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
